Flashbacks


If you suffer from flashbacks you should work together with a Counsellor/ Advocate to develop your own list of things that you can do to help you to deal with your flashbacks. The following is just a brief suggestion of what you could do to help yourself.

A Flashback Technique

  1. Practice the Breathing to relax technique
  2. Listen to you favorite or special CD's or tapes
  3. Curl up on your bed with a teddy or stuffed animal
  4. Engage in physical exercise
  5. Find something to keep your mind busy try losing yourself in another activity
  6. Don't push flashbacks away, let them happen and deal with them
  7. Nurture yourself
  8. Reach out to someone for support. eg. counsellor, friend, partner or family member.
